Pricing Announced

Today I posted the pricing for SL Commerce Manager in preparation for the site launch on April 21.

The pricing for SL Commerce Manager is usage-based…. basically you pay for what you use. And in SL Commerce Manager, the primary measurable item is the transaction… either a sale or a visit.  Adding a sale or visit places a small load on the system and causes data to be stored, which makes it a reasonable item to count.

There are three levels of service, based on how many transactions you expect to record in a month or a year. You can mix sales or visit transactions, based on your needs.  If you really care about sales but not so much about visits, you can focus your transaction allowance on sales, perhaps not running the Visit Sensor.  Likewise if you’re a club owner, perhaps visits are the key metric for you and sales are handled mostly by other accounts who lease space from you.  You can allocate your transaction allowance towards visits.  You don’t have to choose ahead of time... just keep the total of transactions under the number allowed by your level of service. You can always see your current transaction level for the current month and the past month at your SL Commerce Manager account view.

My thanks to several of the beta testers who gave me invaluable feedback that helped shape this plan.  I wish I could name them by name, but they pointed out several flaws in earlier iterations.  I hope this plan gives you the options to meet your needs while being simple enough to understand.

For beta testers, you can think about which plan meets your needs by looking at your past account activity.  When you’re ready to make a choice, you can purchase at any time.  The “paid account plan” time that you choose will be automatically added to end of your remaining beta.

If you have any questions about the plan options, don’t hesitate to leave a comment here or send feedback.
